How we approach development
Format 01

Community Meetings

A shared topic. A room full of practitioners. Something useful to carry back.

Community Meetings are free monthly gatherings hosted with partner organizations across North Texas. Each meeting explores an issue shaping nonprofit work through practical framing, practitioner voices, interactive discussion, and tools participants can use inside their own organizations.

Connection Circles

Smaller rooms for the questions that need more time.

Connection Circles are smaller, discussion-based sessions where participants can bring the realities of their own work to the table. There is no presentation to perform and no expectation that anyone has the answer. The value is in the depth of the conversation, the perspective around the room, and the peer relationships that grow over time.

Fall 2026 Update

Making room to build what comes next.

Roots to Leadership will pause Community Meetings and Connection Circles from September through December while the 2027 program and resource model is developed.

The decision comes from what the first year of gatherings has made increasingly clear. The conversations themselves matter, but there is more opportunity in the questions emerging from those rooms than a monthly meeting can hold. Practical tools, deeper sector knowledge, and resources people can return to later all deserve more deliberate attention.

Trying to continue producing a new live program every month while also building that next layer would divide the time available to both. The fall gives Roots the capacity to develop the next model with more intention rather than simply adding new pieces around an already full programming schedule.

Roots will remain active throughout the pause. The Nonprofit Newsletter will continue and social channels will continue sharing professional questions, reflections from the field, and useful frameworks.

Live gatherings will return in 2027. The intention is not simply to resume the old calendar, but to return with a stronger structure around the conversations that made the first year valuable.
